- Oak Bark Leather Colour Chart -
ERNEST WALKER LTD. uses 5 different tones of leather from the J & FJ Baker & Co. Ltd. Tannery and for those that want to know; here is the Oak Bark Leather tone chart comparing our leather tone names with the actual names from Baker’s tannery:
ERNEST WALKER LTD. - J & FJ Baker & Co. Ltd.
Hide - Russet
Tobacco - Dark Stain
Whiskey - Australian Nut
Coffee - Dark Havana
Coal - Black
Note:
Our leather comes from a tannery that only uses hides from home-grown livestock on free-to-range farms. This means natural imperfections - crease marks, small scars etc. may be present, giving this beautiful leather its glorious patina. Tone may vary slightly batch to batch as each piece is truly unique and shows the animal had a real life outdoors.
The tannery wax is left on the leather straps for protection and is often referred to as ‘bloom’. Don’t worry if your straps arrive looking ‘milky’ this natural wax can be buffed off with a decent brush and some quality leather balm or dubbin. The leather’s rich tone is hiding beneath this nourishing and protective wax.
All straps are cut by hand to as close to the listed widths. Small discrepancies in this natural product may occur.
